Comet C/2002 T7 LINEAR

5 minute exposure of Comet C/2002 T7 (LINEAR) taken on morning of May 16 2004 at around 5:05am local time, South Australia, (19:25 UT May 15). The total tail length stretches to around 13 deg and very faintly a little more. 10% illuminated moon present 30 degrees away from comet.

Another pic from same morning session taken at around 19:36 UT - 6 min exp. We missed the best window of opportunity (of about 20 minutes) for imaging T7 as we had dew problems as a result of an unconnected connection for the kendricks dew system!! In this image the possible remains of the antitail is seen at the 6 o'clock position - with the other dust tail is at ~10 oclock. The main tail is at around PA 213º, and north is nearly at the 8 o'clock position.

10 minute exposure of Comet C/2002 T7 (LINEAR) taken on morning of April 26 2004 at around 5:20 am local time, South Australia, (19:50 UT 25th apr). A faint total tail curves and stretches to around 7.5 deg. near the bright double containing the star Kappa Piscium (especially in enhanced versions of other pics we took same morning)

Same image but blown up a bit. Broader section of brighter lower tail is about 2.5 deg. in length. Taken through thin high clouds (note fuzziness of stars) - the cloud is obscuring most of the top and fainter part of the tail. A little bit of antitail present too. An artifact from the processing by the photolab has left a wheel mark/line running through centre of comets tail - will have to get all the T7 shots reprocessed!
