6 minute exposure of Comet 2004 Q2 Machholz with the Pleiades star cluster (seven sisters) nearby, as they headed down towards the north west horizon. Started shot at around 12:42 am 8th jan 2005 local time - 14:12 7th jan UT. May be as much, or more than 10 degrees of faint ion tail in image.

Another 6 minute exposure of Comet Machholz and Pleiades started
at 11:46 pm jan 7th 05 local time. We had a late start on this
night and missed it probably at its best for the evening. Both
shots taken from mid north of SA. |
